The Venue and Setting
Orocco Pier sits on the shore line in South Queensferry, with spectacular views over the Forth bridges. It’s a modern hotel with a warm atmosphere, perfect for couples looking to get married with an amazing view out the window.
The interior design is contemporary but still cosy, with plenty of natural light spilling through large windows. The views on offer are a dream come true for any wedding photographer in Edinburgh!
Ceremony Spaces

Down the stairs in the main function suite, you have large floor to ceiling glass windows, which frame the Forth Bridges beautifully, making for a stunning backdrop.
The room is large enough for around 100 guests during the day, so is definitely suited more to smaller to medium sized weddings.
Staff and Coordination
The team at Orocco Pier are fantastic to work with. They’re organised without being rigid, which creates a relaxed flow to the day. As a wedding photographer, this is a huge plus and means I can work seamlessly alongside the schedule, while couples and guests feel looked after without being rushed.
They’re also incredibly accommodating with suppliers. From ensuring we’ve got access to the best shooting spots to helping manage timings for golden hour portraits on the pier, their attention to detail really shows.
Food and Drink
Food is one of Orocco Pier’s biggest strengths. The kitchen is known for its modern Scottish cuisine with a fresh, seasonal focus. Every wedding I’ve shot here has had guests raving about the meal, and from a photographer’s perspective, the plates are always beautifully presented.
Canapés on the terrace are a highlight, especially when guests can enjoy them while watching the sun dip behind the bridges. The combination of great food, relaxed conversation, and unbeatable views makes for some of the most candid and joyful photos of the day.
Photography Opportunities

For a wedding photographer, Orocco Pier is a little more unconventional due to the lack of having their own outdoor space to get group pictures. That isn’t a huge issue though, because just stepping outside of the hotel and going either to the steps at one side or the pier on the other side, gives you an ideal spot to take guests to where you get an amazing view of the Forth Bridges.
Some Things to Note
Because Orocco Pier sits right on the waterfront, the weather can be a little breezy. I’d always suggest brides and grooms have a plan for hair and veils if we’re heading out onto the pier for photos. That said, the movement can add a beautiful, natural energy to the images.
Parking in South Queensferry can also be limited at busy times, especially in summer, so it’s worth letting guests know to arrive a little earlier to avoid stress. I’d honestly advise planning on not being able to park there at all and getting a taxi, because when it’s busy…. It can be near impossible to find a space.
Final Thoughts
Orocco Pier is a venue that combines unbeatable views with warm hospitality and modern style. It’s perfect for couples who want their day to feel relaxed yet sophisticated, and for guests who’ll appreciate the unique setting and vibrant atmosphere.
As a photographer, I never get tired of working here. Every wedding has its own character, shaped by the changing light on the water and the energy of the celebration. If you’re dreaming of a wedding by the sea but don’t want to stray too far from Edinburgh, Orocco Pier is hard to beat.
