Weddings, Edinburgh Weddings

We had the privilege of being invited to photograph Lauren and Ryan’s wedding day at Cramond Kirk in Edinburgh. It truly was a day full of unforgettable moments and we are so grateful to have been chosen from the couples shortlist of photographers to capture their wedding day.

We started the day off at the ceremony at Cramond Kirk in Edinburgh, which is a charming and historic church, tucked away in one of Edinburgh’s most picturesque areas. The church made for a beautiful backdrop to start off the day.

A church does usually give us more restrictions as far as angles, as they tend to be quite strict on where you can and can’t be. However, we were allowed up on to the balcony, which made for some stunning photos of Lauren the bride. Because we are a husband and wife team, this meant we could have one of us posted up on the balcony and one of us down on the other side, so we could capture both angles without any disruption.

After the ceremony, we captured the all important group shots, before stealing the couple away for a small couples shoot walking through the gardens. The setting made for some beautiful, intimate moments and some stunning pictures.

The celebrations continued at The Village Hotel in Edinburgh, where the reception brought a modern and vibrant atmosphere to the day. This stylish venue was the ideal contrast to the traditional setting of the kirk, offering plenty of space for dancing, speeches, and laughter late into the evening.

This allowed us to get the strobes and flashes out, to bring some light into the room. We at McCourt Photography pride ourselves on our night time pictures, as this is usually the trickiest part of the day for any wedding photographer. The Village Hotel had large white ceilings, making an ideal area to bounce flash off and create what is effectively a giant soft box. The results are nice soft light that doesn’t look like harsh flash photography.
