We had such a brilliant day with Jo and Angus for their Edinburgh wedding, and it was one of those days that took us to some really great spots across the city.
We kicked things off at the Edinburgh Registry Office, which is always a lovely setting for a ceremony. There is something really charming about a registry office wedding, it feels relaxed and personal, and it sets a great tone for the rest of the day.
From there we made our way over to Roxy Assembly Rooms for the reception, but not before stopping off at the Rabbit Hole for lunch, which was a great shout and a nice chance for everyone to catch their breath and enjoy some food together before the celebrations really got going.
Roxy Assembly Rooms is a seriously impressive venue. The scale of it is something else, and as photographers it definitely kept us on our toes. Those tall ceilings and the sheer size of the room meant our usual approach of bouncing flash off the ceiling simply wasn’t an option, so we switched things up and went with direct flash instead. It is one of those situations where you have to adapt quickly, and honestly it pushed us to get some shots that had a really different feel to them. A bit more punchy, a bit more dramatic, and something a little different from what we would usually produce.
Jo and Angus were fantastic throughout the whole day, and their guests brought exactly the kind of energy that makes a wedding reception so much fun to photograph. A brilliant couple, a brilliant day, and some brilliant Edinburgh locations to tie it all together. Congratulations to the both of you!
